Ume no Hana (梅の花)

If you look for a fine dining Japanese restaurant in Aobadai, Ume no Hana is one of best option. Ume no Hana provides very authentic Japanese food especially their speciality is ” Tofu” (Bean curd). If you think Tofu is just no taste and boring, you will change your idea when you go to this Ume no Hana. We can find many ways of enjoying Tofu in this restaurant.

Furthermore, the restaurant has tradional Japanese atomosphere. If you go this restaurant, you feel like you travel to Japanese small hotel. Local Japanese seem to use this restaurant for their some special occasion such as gathering, official cerebration or official dining. So if you want to enjoy Japanese traditional atomosphere officially, this is the best place to enjoy as well. *Reservation is must.

1.Restaurant

Ume no Hana is located just beside Tokyu Square where is attached to Aobadai station. From the front of entratce in Ume no Hana , you might not be able to recognize this is restaurant if you were not local.

Once you enter this area, you can take an escalater to go up to the ground floor.

You can enjoy beautiful bamboo trees while you are taking an escalator.

Entrance area

Once you reach the entrance area, you can see their traditional approach. Please open the slide door and go inside the restaurant. By the way, this restaurant, we are required to take off the shoes when we are in the restaurant.

A restaurant staff brings you where you enjoy the food. If you go this restaurant 3~4 people, I recommend you to make a reservation and book a private room. Private room gives you wabi-sabi kind atomosphere.

2.Food

When you make a reservation, we need to choose the set course menu. Full course menu starts from appetiser , small dishes, main dish, rice and dessert. All food are served by beautiful Japanese ceramic plates.

Menu was written in Japanese.
This course is around 5,500yen . Main dish is wagyu beef and bean cured skin syabusyabu (Dipping hot soup)

Most of Japanese restaurant serves chawan-mushi (steamed egg) but this chawan-mushi in this course menu was super tasty. Chawan mushi has crab meat inside!

3 types of appetiser set. Main ingredients are Tofu.
Agedashi Dofu. This is also Tofu. Deep fried around tofu. Very traditional item
Today’s sashimi – Puffer fish

Deep fried stuff. Pour squeezed lemon juice on the pufferfish meat.

Finally main dish comes. Their main dish is basically syabu syabu style (Dipping meat into soup ). We can enjoy cooking in the table . Syabu syabu ingredients are vegetables, meat and bean curd skin (we called Yuba). Yuba is no strong taste but you can enjoy its smooth texture.

This is syabu syabu set. We swish the ingredients around the pot (pot has broth )ingredients (Vege, bean curd and wagyu ). After that we dip it into 2 soup( at the left ).

Dessert(Tofu sorbet)

When you finish full course of this menu, you can enjoy walking around their garden. The garden shows a pinch of nature in the town. If you go to autamn, you can enjoy beautiful maple leaves.
