Since you are in Japan, we highly recommend you to enjoy ” Soba” . Soba is the thin noodle that is made from buckwheat. Soba is also regarded as healthy food in the world because soba has low calories and 9 essential amino acids.
According to Wikipedia :-
100 grams of cooked soba yields 99 kcal (410 kJ) of energy.[17] Soba contains all nine essential amino acids,[15] including lysine, which common wheat does not contain.[18]
Soba contains a type of polysaccharide that is easily digested. Soba noodles also contain antioxidants, including rutin and quercetin, and essential nutrients including choline, thiamine and riboflavin.[18]
I went to have soba noodles not only the reason of the health but also enjoying the soba noodle taste since I couldn’t have nice soba during my staying in overseas.
Where is the restaurant?

This time, I choose Soba restaurant “Shinkawa” . I passed by this restaurant more than 100 times during my shopping in Tsutsujigaoka or Shiratoridai . The restaurant shows very traditional style. The entrance area welcomes you with bamboo and noren curtain in the orange coloured wall.

Look! The restaurant entrance has a small corridor that is very elegant. You will be excited to walk in this corridor before going to the restaurant.
Atmosphere

Open concept kitchen comes into our eyes once we open the slide door. There are selected Japanese sake along the counter seats. This restaurant chef got a sake master licence (like a sake sommelier) and often visited sake makers for selecting good quality of sake by himself . Wow! We can enjoy not only soba but also sake even!! The restaurant welcomes even you come and enjoy soba and sake alone!

A couple of tables and chairs are set in the restaurant. These seats keep enough space between tables.
Food

I got excited to have this Shinkawa ‘s noodle since this restaurant chef made noodles by himself daily. I ordered “Tempura soba(Soba with deep fried stuff)set ” this time. Tada~ ! As you can see, the volume of noodle and tempra are pretty a lot!

After eating all dishes, normally Japanese requested to the restaurant for ” Soba-yu” . Soba-yu means hot water that was used for cooking the noodle. After eating noodle, we ordered this soba-yu and pour this water from the pot to the soba cup. And drink!
I went to Shinkawa for lunch. Next time, I want to go Shinkawa in the dinner time because I want to enjoy the sake with soba or sobagaki (sobagaki is like a mochi feeling which was made by soba flour). And a chef used to cook traditional Japanese food so I want to try his a la cart items which are also popular for the regular customers. I will report all of you again!
