Aobadai is good place to enjoy Italian food. GRATIA is one of popular Italian restaurants in Aobadai. When you see GRATIA in the street, you can’t pass by without checking this restaurant!
Where is the restaurant?
GRATIA is located 5mins. from Aobadai station. If you walk in the route KanYon (環状４号線 Route No. 4 Kanjo) from the station, you can find an European style of restaurant in the street.
Atmosphere
Entrance approach has beauiful flower arrangement (Ikebana) with friendly staff. When Krista visited this restaurant, it was end October and Halloween season. So, flower arrangement is Halloween arrangement which was funky ! This flower arrangement is one of this restaurant’s highlight.
It isn’t like Japan, is it? If you are in GRATIA, you forget whether you are in Japan or not. Opne kitchen concept in the restaurant where you can see chef’s cooking.
Food
I ordered lunch set (1,560yen). They have 3 lunch courses. My order has appetiser plate, Bread, Pasta or Pizza , Coffee. Appetiser is uniquely cooked. When I had a salad, there was bubble on the leaves.(You can see above photo) Is this bubble made by egg white? ( I am not sure whether I should call it meringue or not) I was wondering what was this until friendly staff explained. This was made by the apple cyder! So creative! It goes well with salad. That was petite surprise on the place! Their chef utilized seasonable fresh vegetable and cooked nicely.
Voila ! I ordered my main dish for squid ink pasta with seafood. This is season’s menu. So all ingredients are very fresh. The squid ink pasta does not bother us whether our teeth become black or not because it doesn’t! 🙂 Squid ink has been cooked in pasta. Fish egg(Ikura), squid, and tomato with italian parsley on this pasta !
By the way, this lunch course has several pasta/pizza for us to choose. So, I wanted to try pizza ,too since they baked pizza by a kiln.
I visited this restaurant for my lunch. But definitely, dinner time must be more romantic mood. Yes, GRATIA is very popular for dinner time, too. Dinner menu is confidently loved by many people. So I should try their fish or meat dish besides pasta and pizza! I will report once I try it. Stay tuned!

This restaurant’s atmosphere is European style. So, we can enjoy different mood as your daily environment. It would be good for dating spot , anniverssary , gathering etc. Food is very authentic Italian food with fresh ingredients. Furthermore, they have good selection of alchohol drinks, too. Remarkable point is , we can enjoy GRATIA beer garden at 1,500yen for freeflow from 36 kinds of drinks including soft drinks. (Beer- 9 types, glasswine-8 types, Sparkling-2types, highball – 4 types, Non alchohol -13 types).
